Job Title: Special Education Teacher (SPED)
Location: Plainfield, NJ
Assignment Duration: ASAP – End of School Year
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:20 AM – 3:30 PM
Hours: 35 hours per week

Position Overview

A middle school in Plainfield, NJ is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in grades 5–8. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
• Provide direct instruction tailored to students’ academic and behavioral needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
• Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet individual learning styles
• Support students in developing social, emotional, and life skills

Caseload

• Middle School (Grades 5–8)
• Students with a range of special education needs

Requirements

• Valid New Jersey Department of Education (NJ DOE) certification in Students with Disabilities
• Experience working with middle school students preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
