    Job Details
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for care of patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students.
  • Assesses patients’ needs and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
  • Works cooperatively with patient team personnel maintaining standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Observes and evaluates treatment effects and accomplishment of goals; recommends changes to physician if needed.
  • Performs assessments and reassessments as per policy; performs accurate and timely QI scoring.
  • Population served includes adult and geriatric patients requiring adult medical rehabilitation program and services.
  • Assesses patient pain interfering with function and makes appropriate interventions and physician contacts.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care optimizing safety and reducing medical errors.
  • Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in team conferences.
  • Formulates teaching plans based on learning needs and evaluates effectiveness; includes family as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity; addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely; maintains department cleanliness and safety.
  • Interacts professionally with patients, families, physicians, staff, and administrative team.
  • Participates in patient/family and team conferences.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stress.
  • Maintains good working relationships within and outside the department.
  • Consults other departments for collaboration in patient care and performance improvement.
  • Meets documentation standards and policies; documents goals on Interdisciplinary Care Plan and provides updates.
  • Participates in educational staff performance improvement in-services; assists with orientation and training.
  • Ensures patient charges are accurate and timely entered.
  • Participates in infection control, equipment training, safety, and fire safety programs.
  • Adheres to dress code and wears appropriate identification while on duty.
  • Completes annual health, safety, and education requirements; maintains professional growth and development.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan and provides age-appropriate care.
  • Reports to work on time and adheres to absence notification policies.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
  • Represents the organization positively and professionally.
  • Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates hospital mission, ethics, goals, and department focus.
  • Maintains current licensure/certification for position.
  • Demonstrates guest relations skills with patients, physicians, visitors, and employees.
  • Follows departmental and hospital health, safety, security, and hazardous materials policies and procedures.
  • Participates and contributes to performance improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws and hospital policy.
  • Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with Kindred’s Code of Conduct, policies, federal and state laws, and standards.
  • Takes responsibility and accountability for duties, ensuring tasks are completed reliably and timely.
    Job Requirements
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Washington.
  • Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred but not required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
    Schedule Information
  • Contract length is 13 weeks.
