Growing Wealth Management Firm | Winston-Salem, NC Area

Salary: Up to $160K Base + Bonus (up to 15%+) + Commission potential

A rapidly growing Wealth Management firm in the Winston-Salem area is seeking an experienced Principal Tax Manager to lead and expand its in-house tax practice. This is a unique leadership opportunity for a tax professional who wants to combine technical expertise, team leadership, client relationship management, and long-term growth potential within a collaborative financial services environment.

What You’ll Do

As the Principal Tax Manager, you will lead the local tax office and oversee a small but growing team of tax professionals. You’ll inherit an active portfolio of business and individual clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery while mentoring and developing staff.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage and oversee an existing book of business clients
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals
• Review and prepare complex business and individual tax returns
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on tax planning and strategy
• Drive operational excellence and workflow management within the office
• Collaborate closely with the Wealth Management team to deliver holistic financial solutions
• Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships across tax and wealth services
• Help scale and grow the internal tax practice as the firm continues expanding

Ideal Background

We’re looking for a confident and relationship-driven tax leader who enjoys mentoring others and building lasting client relationships.

Preferred qualifications:

• CPA or EA required
• 7+ years of public accounting or tax advisory experience
• Experience managing business and high-net-worth individual tax clients
• Prior leadership or team management experience
• Strong communication and client relationship skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in growing a practice
