This opportunity places you in a state-of-the-art teaching hospital with a Level 1 Trauma designation, known for fostering continuous learning and career development. You’ll gain invaluable experience managing complex cases in both pediatric hematology/oncology and acute care units, with strong departmental support and resources to ensure patient safety and outstanding care.
Scheduling/Hours:
- Shift: 7p–7a
- Every other weekend rotation
- 75% of holidays required
- No on-call duties
- 6-week schedule cycles
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with at least 1 year in pediatric acute care; 1 year in pediatric hem/oncology preferred
- BLS required; PALS preferred
- Strong pediatric assessment, critical thinking, central line management, and chemo administration skills
- EMR proficiency (Epic)
- Open to first-time travelers with solid pediatric backgrounds
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive pediatric care for diverse diagnoses, including leukemia, sickle cell crises, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, behavioral health overlays, and more
- Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5
- Collaborate with skilled CNAs, hospitalists, intensivists, and an array of support staff
- Utilize advanced technology such as Epic, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
- Float between pediatric units as required, excluding the Pediatric ED
- Participate in unit orientation and 2-day departmental training
