Our Loan Officers assist members by analyzing lending requests and presenting GHS products and services to best fit their needs.
The essential duties of Loan Officer include but are not limited to the following tasks and responsibilities:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Loan Officers provide personal service when meeting with existing and potential member applicants; assess credit information, earnings potential and financial conditions to determine loan approval.
- Lending opportunities will include inbound and outbound phone calls and conversations as well as walk in lobby traffic and scheduled appointments for all credit union products.
- Must be able to apply the contents of credit reports to underwriting guidelines.
- Lenders establish the terms and conditions of an approved loan and review details with member.
- Accurate, legible and complete paperwork processing is necessary.
- Must demonstrate workplace flexibility, collaboration and teamwork.
- Lending results will include recognizing and presenting cross-sell opportunities to our members with successful results.
- Lending responsibilities include monitoring lobby traffic and all credit union product sales that support member needs.
- Achievement of individual, departmental and business goals as announced.
- May be required to travel to other branches periodically for coverage and support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to prioritize and establish timelines to meet the operational needs of the credit union.

- Must maintain high level of confidentiality regarding credit union staff and member information.

- Excellent problems solving, critical thinking and analytical skills are required daily.
- Must work well in a team environment.
- Flexibility is necessary to handle multiple projects and tasks daily.
- Maintain a professional work environment and business like appearance.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience: Minimum of 3 years prior lending. Prior sales experience with successful results is required.
Must have prior knowledge of consumer and mortgage lending and loan underwriting. Prior
experience with Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac is beneficial.
Education: Associate Degree or appropriate combination of education and prior lending experience. This
position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent communication skills
Interpersonal: This position involves contact with others inside and outside the organization and requires
professionalism, courtesy, finesse, tact and diplomacy. This position requires the ability to engage and influence others by building rapport. Must demonstrate clear verbal and written communication.

Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Periodically lift and/or move 20 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
