Position: Consumer Loan Officer
Reports to: SVP Consumer Lending

Overview
The Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for processing, evaluating, and originating consumer loan applications, including auto loans, personal loans, credit cards, and other consumer products. This role requires strong financial acumen, a member-focused mindset, and the ability to recommend loan solutions that meet member needs while ensuring the credit union’s risk management standards are upheld.

Consumer Loan Officer Duties and Responsibilities
· Interview members to assess financial needs and recommend appropriate loan products.
· Evaluate loan applications, review credit reports, and determine creditworthiness in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
· Prepare, process, and close consumer loan applications accurately and efficiently.
· Educate members on loan terms, repayment options, and financial products.
· Cross-sell credit union services to deepen member relationships.
· Maintain knowledge of current lending regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
· Meet individual and team lending goals while ensuring high member satisfaction.
· Monitor loan performance and assist with delinquency management when necessary.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in finance, business, or related field preferred.
· 2+ years of experience in consumer lending, credit unions, banking, or related financial services.
· Knowledge of lending regulations, credit reports, and loan underwriting practices.
· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan origination systems.
Other Skills and Abilities
· Work cooperatively with both external and internal customers.
· Must be able to coordinate multiple and changing priorities while still meeting deadlines.
· Strong communication skills.
· Must be able to operate personal computer keyboard in order to create reports and other appropriate documentation as well as other general office equipment.
· Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
· Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
· Must maintain personal accounts here and elsewhere in good standing in a professional manner.
Working Conditions
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
· Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of items weighing up to 10lbs.
· Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
· Repetitive motions and extensive keyboarding.
· Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
