Job Description

The Welder sets up and operates welding equipment to produce high‑quality metal assemblies according to blueprints and specifications. This role focuses on MIG hand welding, proper preparation of materials, and thorough quality checks to ensure each product meets established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up welding equipment, including torch tips, filler rods, and flux, based on blueprints and metal thickness requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to assemble products accurately to specification.
  • Perform MIG hand welding on metal components to create strong, clean welds.
  • Grind welds and finished parts to achieve required surface finish and tolerances.
  • Safely operate an overhead crane to move and position products and materials.
  • Conduct quality checks on welded assemblies to ensure they meet all standards and requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team members and support production flow across welding and related operations.

Essential Skills

  • 6 months to 1 year of welding experience.
  • Proficiency in MIG hand welding on metal components.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints to guide assembly and welding work.
  • Capability to perform basic math, including fractions and decimals, for measurements and calculations.
  • Skill in using measuring devices accurately to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Experience with grinding tools to finish welds and prepare surfaces.
  • Ability to safely operate an overhead crane for moving products and materials.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to performing thorough quality checks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Comfort working around CNC equipment and welding booths.
  • Strong focus on safety and adherence to established procedures.
  • Willingness to cross-train and support multiple departments as needed.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Work Environment

You will work on an open production floor in a standard manufacturing facility that includes a CNC department and dedicated welding booths. The environment is structured around production workflows, with access to welding stations, grinding equipment, and overhead cranes. You can expect a hands-on, industrial setting where safety procedures are followed closely and collaboration with other production areas is part of the daily routine.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of JACKSON, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
