Requirements: 5+ Years Experience as an Estimator for heavy civil construction projects.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Heavy Civil Sr. Estimator who will play a crucial role in our construction projects by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates. This position involves collaborating with project managers and engineers to ensure project success from inception through completion. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of heavy civil construction and excel in cost analysis and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects including but not limited to highways, bridges, and earthworks.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and prepare quantity takeoffs.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to develop bid strategies and competitive pricing.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to clients, ensuring clarity and alignment with project requirements.
- Conduct value engineering assessments to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to procure necessary materials and services.
- Utilize construction software and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate records and project data.
- Conduct risk management assessments to identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Assist in scheduling project timelines and milestones to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of cost analysis, bid preparation, and contract negotiation.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding technical drawings.
- Familiarity with risk management practices in construction.
