COMPANY BACKGROUND
National Flooring Equipment, LLC. (“NFE”) is an industry leading manufacturer and distributor of tools for the installation and removal of flooring. With corporate headquarters located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, the company serves markets throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. The Company has introduced a series of new products over the years, that has led to rapid growth and the need for additional experienced management to assist guide this growth.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Controller is responsible for directing the company’s accounting and finance function including the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reporting and analysis in addition to establishing/maintaining the company’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. The Controller will also assist the CFO in establishing/enhancing internal controls, policies and procedures. The position requires significant hands-on effort in the preparation of reports and oversight of daily accounting and processing activities initially, while building/training staff resources to handle systems on an ongoing basis.
More specific responsibilities include:
· Supervises the company’s monthly closing of accounts and preparation of consolidating financial statements. NFE has subsidiaries in Australia, Holland, Ireland, and the UK.
· Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial management reports.
· Develop and create enhanced reporting for various company functions to identify trends and opportunities for improved performance. Especially for sales reporting and management decisions.
· Analyze company financial data to highlight positive and negative trends to upper management in areas of revenue, expenses, working capital, cash flow, forecasts and operating practices.
· Acts as liaison with auditors to complete all financial audits on time and at a minimum cost. Also provide all required information for income and other tax compliance.
· Develop, establish and maintain a system of controls to safeguard company assets and ensure a fundamental framework of internal control exists.
· Assists with the development of formal budget process including management training and working with department heads to develop a meaningful and fully accountable budget plan.
· Fulfill project manager role for definition and implementation of system upgrades.
· Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks; provide recommendations to optimize pricing, product mix, and market strategies.
· Produce P&L statements for existing major accounts and templates for new prospects.
· Work with sales and marketing teams to forecast revenue and assess ROI on campaigns, trade shows and other push/ pull initiatives.
· Build predictive models to support/ marketing strategies and resource allocation.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the necessary skills and experience to perform the responsibilities outlined above, there are a number of traits that a successful candidate will possess.
TECHNICAL
· Minimum of 10 years financial management experience with prior experience as an Assistant Controller or Controller preferred.
· Prior experience in a manufacturing environment and cost accounting preferred.
· A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
· Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, internal control systems, and financial reporting and analysis.
· Project management experience with the ability to manage groups through project implementation. Prior experience leading a MIS system installation preferred.
· Ability to function as a member of the management team, and to add value to the organization beyond the financial arena.
· Strong computer skills including knowledge of computer financial applications and proficiency in Word and Excel.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
· CPA and/or MBA preferred.
