POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties required to assure materials are properly received, stocked, retrieved, packed and shipped in a timely manner for use by internal and external customers.


FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB


Essential Functions:


  1. Fill/expedite orders and maintain inventory level of packing materials using prescribed paperwork (internal/external customer); secure in proper carrier and deliver to appropriate staging areas.
  2. Complete safety inspection of equipment.
  3. Operate floor scrubber and/or sweep floors to insure area is kept clear for travel and safety.
  4. Organize dock continually throughout the day.
  5. Domestic packing: insure counts, proper documentation, and materials are counted, checked, and packed in a secure manner for shipment following prescribed standard guidelines per 49 C.F.R. and IATA.
  6. Operate forklift to handle the following: unload trucks, pick or place all skids or products in high bay, designated areas or west dock; load outbound freight, pickup trucks in steel bay; move hazardous waste drums to south lot; load wooden pallets on trailer for vendors; load and unload propane tasks and exchange other oxygen and acetylene tanks.
  7. Operate lift to either put away or pull materials from stock.
  8. Use bar code scanners to process inventory transactions.
  9. Use computer and various software programs such as Microsoft Outlook to send e-mails; process and record information using Oracle system.
  10. Use various scales to perform counts of incoming and outgoing materials.
  11. Perform manifest (Manchester) function using Kewill software, which is tied to UPS.
  12. Pack export orders in secure manner using a variety of packing and insure per title 49 C.F.R. and IATA standards for shipment outside the United States; check pick list for accuracy and packing.
  13. Determine appropriate container size for shipment of export order and load container using a variety of powered and manual lifts.
  14. Perform cycle counts using scales or other counting methods pertaining to stocking of materials warehousing and finished goods (sub-inventory transfers, locate).
  15. Outside process (vendors) (WIP move, WIP receipt, deliver) - insure paperwork and material counts are correct before and after being sent to vendor.
  16. Operate the Turret Picker/Crane (high bay) to pick and stock materials from holding locations in excess of thirty feet high.
  17. Unload trucks with crane.
  18. Operate/clean wheelabrator to insure proper finish and cleanliness of materials.
  19. Perform cycle count to check inventory accuracy and assist in resolving errors in the process causing inaccuracies.
  20. Pack specials from Special Products and Abrasive departments.
  21. RMAs - process returns from customers (gages, RMAs), inspecting (determine the quality and repair required), work with customer service and quality control, complete paperwork on return goods, and deliver to designated areas. Process the RMAs and inquiries through the Oracle system.
  22. Receive purchased items (receipt of direct or standard receipts, count) to insure proper counts and paperwork are received, entered, and sent to designated locations.
  23. Coordinate with buyers and planners to fix problem purchase orders.
  24. Shipping router: review pick lists and sort pick list in order of priority, route picking in aisles, highlight special instructions, and designate freight carrier.
  25. Perform miscellaneous receipt withdrawals/scrap.
  26. Print material requisitions upon request to fill orders being placed by internal customers.
  27. Schedule freight lines for machines and heavy materials going to external customers.
  28. Direct activities of attendants within a station of a cell.
  29. Create Bill of Lading to insure tracking of materials handled by freight companies per title 49 CFR and IATA standards.
  30. Print, close out, verify, and obtain shop orders using Oracle software.
  31. Train attendants on forklift, tow motor, and other powered equipment.
  32. Use computer (various software programs): Microsoft Outlook to schedule meetings; Oracle, Excel, and Word to draft memos and work reports.


Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.


  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop and crouch, push, pull, reach, grasp, feel, talk, and hear.
  2. Generally moderate physical effort. The employee is required to lift more than 60 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 60 pounds frequently and move around large areas or to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects unassisted or with the use of a hand truck or hoist.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include clarity of vision at a distance of 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships along with adjusting the eye to bring objects into sharp focus for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.



Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.


Good working conditions. Exposed to any number of elements but none present to the extent of being disagreeable.


POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


Education: Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers including decimals and fractions. Simple reference use of formulas, charts, shop prints, specifications, computer and scanning devices.

Experience: Requires a minimum of one year up to and including three years to gain sufficient experience to perform the requirements of the position.

  8. Ability to understand and learn new and existing computer applications.
  9. Ability to work with little direct supervision.

Telephone, two-way radios, copier, fax, personal computer/terminal, common application software, scanning and bar code equipment, brick saw, tumblaster, hand truck, banding equipment, large packing stapler, tape measure, forklift, tow motor, crane, side loader, various precision measuring instrument such as scale.


We require a background and SSN check, drug test, and physical for pre-employment.
