Location: Hybrid or Remote


This role is open to candidates based in Long Beach, San Diego, Scottsdale. Team members located near one of our offices may work in a hybrid capacity. Candidates outside of these locations may work fully remote.



Position Summary

The Project Accountant supports the financial management of architectural and design projects. This role works closely with Project Managers and the Finance team to ensure accurate project setup, billing, reporting, and overall financial compliance throughout the project lifecycle.


Responsibilities

  • Set up new projects, budgets, and phases in Ajera/Vision according to contract terms.

  • Review project financial data, including labor hours, consultant invoices, expenses, and budget status.

  • Prepare monthly project invoices; verify billable hours, reimbursables, and percent-complete with Project Managers.

  • Track invoice status, address client billing questions, and assist with collections as needed.

  • Monitor project performance and notify Project Managers of variances or financial risks.

  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contract values, amendments, and billing schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and coordinate financial alignment with consultant agreements.

  • Support month-end close activities such as revenue recognition, WIP review, and project reporting.

  • Assist with project-related AP reconciliation and verification of charges.

  • Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience in project accounting, billing, or financial coordination; AEC experience preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Ajera/Vision experience a plus

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
