This role is responsible for managing and administering SCI’s health & welfare plans, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, voluntary plans, FSA, HRA, COBRA, but does not include time-off (STD, LTD, LOA, FMLA, etc) or the 401(k) plan. The position will be the primary vendor contact and manager of our benefit partners/insurers. Will also be responsible for researching, evaluating, and administering company benefit programs that attract and retain associates while ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. Functions as a liaison between vendors and associates.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Benefits Administration

Administers all aspects of SCI’s medical, dental, vision, life insurance, voluntary benefits, FSAs, HRA, EAP and point solutions (e.g., Accolade, 2nd.MD, Tria Health)

Project manages all aspects of Annual Enrollment and ensures our Workday enrollment environment is accurate

Acts as a Tier 3 resource for responding to associate inquiries received through the Company’s internal call center, which handles Tier 1 and 2 inquiries

Reviews 2nd level benefits appeals and provides recommended resolution to Benefits Manager in accordance with company policies, procedures and federal and state regulations.

Supports HR Directors and Business Partners on escalated associate issues that require issue resolution with 3rd party administrators.

Coordinates delivery of communications, educations and earning materials from internal and external sources to drive engagement with SCI benefits

Partners with HRIS (SCI uses Workday) on requirement gathering on new benefit interfaces integrating technical and functional.
Vendor Relationship

Supervises audits and process for payment of invoices for each provider of benefit services in the positions area of responsibility

Develops and maintains relationships with vendors, insurance carriers, third-party administrators who provide direct benefits customer support to SCI’s associates and managers.

Assists in the creation and reviews business process requirements documents related to services by 3rd party providers.

Analyzing and identifying trends with system interface issues to determine “root cause” and provide solutions to correct the issue.
Benefits Compliance

Reviews weekly, monthly or annual reports and system interfaces to ensure enrollments are processed according to plan documents and federal/state regulations. Ensures that all exception/errors reports are worked and corrected in a timely manner.

Responds to court orders, medical support orders and other required documents as they relate to Benefits programs.

Maintains all records, files and historical documentation to ensure accurate and total compliance with SOX audit requirements.
Benefits Research and Analysis

Performs special projects as assigned.

Researches and analyzes SCI’s benefit programs and assists in the development of recommendations for development/implementation on new programs or offerings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or comparable degree
Experience
-
Five (5) years of experience managing all H&W plans in a large complex environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Strong knowledge of benefit terms and the laws and regulations (federal, state and local) related to benefit plans such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and the interrelationship of each
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the company

Ability to work in a team environment with a strong customer service focus, when necessary, must be able to work independently

Knowledge and proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Workday and PC applications including MS Office
-
Detail oriented and demonstrated commitment to completing assigned responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness
