Radiology Technologist
Euola is seeking experienced Radiology Technologists to provide professional diagnostic imaging services at the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, Oregon.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Radiologists during fluoroscopic examinations and perform fluoroscopic imaging for examinations conducted by other providers.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and cross-sectional anatomy to obtain high-quality images and verify the accuracy and completeness of examinations.
- Recognize unusual or unexpected images and adjust positioning or technique as needed to best demonstrate the area of interest.
- Monitor and document the patient's condition and physiology during procedures, promptly informing the Radiologist of any changes or concerns.
- Prepare contrast materials under the direction of the Radiologist for procedures such as cystograms, arthrograms, and GI studies using barium or other contrast agents.
- Obtain patient consent when required and ensure proper use of needles, syringes, iodinated contrast, gastrografin, barium, enema supplies, and related equipment.
- Set up and maintain sterile fields and prepare patients and equipment for arthrograms, injections, drains, and other interventional or contrast procedures.
- Ensure that all radiographic examinations meet departmental standards for image quality while minimizing patient radiation exposure and containing costs.
- Communicate examination results or critical findings to Radiologists, participating providers, or referring physicians and promptly alert them to studies requiring immediate attention.
- Perform digital imaging using direct radiography and computed radiography systems, including proper patient selection from worklists, image processing (e.g., window/level adjustments), and transmitting images to storage and viewing systems (such as VistA and PACS).
- Verify that images are accurately labeled, processed, and archived, and print images when required for clinical use.
- Check imaging systems for proper operation, perform basic quality control, and assess equipment performance according to established guidelines, arranging for calibration or adjustment as appropriate.
- Assist the supervisor and Radiologists in developing and updating imaging protocols for routine examinations, exercising independent judgment when clinically appropriate to deviate from standard procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
- Current, unrestricted license as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Radiology Technician.
- Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
- Experience in fluoroscopy and general diagnostic radiography preferred; family with PACS and electronical medial records systems is desirable
- Ability to pass a federal background check, drug screening, and health screening.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English
- Proficiency with electronic health records and digital imaging systems.
- Familiarity with Philips, Siemens, Ge radiology equipment (preferred)
