As a vital member of our surgical team, you will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional care to patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Your role is crucial in ensuring quality nursing care during surgical procedures.

About Our Department

The Operating Room of Surgery is dedicated to delivering top-notch intraoperative care to surgical and procedural sedation patients. We cater to a diverse patient population, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Collaborating with various provider specialties, we ensure that our patients receive the best possible care, whether they are going home the same day or being admitted to the hospital.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing care to patients during surgical procedures.
  • Work closely with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and handle surgical instruments with care.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and patients to ensure clarity and understanding.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification: Current certification to practice surgical technology in Oregon.
  • Experience: Options for certification include:
    • Completion of a surgical technology training program in the armed forces or Public Health Service.
    • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.
    • Two years of surgical technology practice in a hospital or surgical center.
  • Skills:
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work with a diverse patient population.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Certifications: Healthcare Provider BLS required.
  • Preferred: Experience or training in computer applications.

Physical Demands

This role requires physical stamina and the ability to perform various tasks, including:

  • Climbing stairs and walking on inclines.
  • Lifting and carrying weights ranging from 20 to 60 pounds.
  • Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive motions.
