Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and qualify laser welding processes for manufacturing applications.
  • Specify, procure, install, and maintain laser welding equipment and associated tooling.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex laser welding process and equipment issues.
  • Establish and monitor quality control standards and inspection methods for laser welded components.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to develop suitable fixtures and tooling.
  • Provide technical training and support to production operators and technicians.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laser welding efficiency and quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial laser welding (e.g., fiber, YAG, CO2) process development and optimization within a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of laser-material interactions, weld metallurgy, defect analysis, and material characterization techniques.
  • Proven ability to design, qualify, and troubleshoot laser welding processes, tooling, and fixtures for high-volume production.
  • Experience with robotic integration, automation, and statistical process control (SPC) for welding applications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic programming or automation systems for laser welding cells.
  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with fixture design and tooling development for welding applications.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods for weld inspection (e.g., X-ray, ultrasonic).
