About the Position

  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Part-time .8-1.0 FTE (64-80 hours per pay period)
  • 12-hour shifts, Days, Evenings, Every 6th Weekend

Job Summary:
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the medication inventory, and maintaining patient records. They work directly under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.


Here's what you'll do when you join us:

  • Prepare and compound drug products and intravenous solutions for pharmacist approval.
  • Retrieve and deliver physician orders to the pharmacist for initiation of drug distribution process.
  • Deliver and document distribution of narcotics and controlled substances to patient care areas.
  • Prepare, deliver, and restock automated drug dispensing system.
  • Compound and prepare intravenous drugs and solutions utilizing aseptic techniques.
  • Reconcile, charge, and credit patient accounts for drug and intravenous solutions used during hospital admission.
  • Maintain stock and inventory of drugs in the pharmacy and on the floor.
  • Answer and direct phone calls to the pharmacist or supervisor.

If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Previous hospital/retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  3. Pharmacy Technician certification or ability to obtain within one year. Maintain required Continuing Education for CPhT certification.
  4. Pharmacy Technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy. Adhere to requirements of the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy for pharmacy technicians.
  5. Fantastic math skills with the ability to prepare and formulate pharmaceutical products. Demonstrate knowledge of the metric system.
  6. Great written and spoken communication skills with the ability to work independently.
  7. Operate personal computer hardware, application software, and basic typing skills.
  8. Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of Grand Itasc Clinic and Hospital. Demonstrate participation in Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital Mission, Values, and Vision.
  9. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
