JOB SUMMARYThe Winder Operator is a member of a crew that operates two production lines. Working with your shift team, you will safely produce high-quality products in a fast-paced, continuous operation environment. The expectation for this role is to deliver quality packaging and products for customers while adhering to Client's “Safer Together” safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to Client's Safety Standard “Safer Together” and all plant safety requirements
- Take personal ownership of safety and hold team members accountable to the same standards
- Notify supervisor immediately of any accidents, near misses, or injuries
- Participate in safety, quality, autonomous maintenance (AM), TPM, and housekeeping programs
- Perform tasks to reduce environmental impact and comply with recycling and waste disposal procedures
- Comply with all plant rules and regulations
- Perform cleanup duties at workstations and equipment/machinery
- Communicate safety concerns and equipment issues to appropriate personnel
- Inspect vehicles and PIV equipment before and during use; maintain cleanliness and operability
- Participate in TPM initiatives, including CILT standards and 5S
- Actively engage in AM or Pillar teams and Focus Improvement (FI) problem-solving
- Perform winder, EDL, and conveyor quality checks and documentation
- Maintain and adjust control panel settings (speed, delays, timers)
- Provide quality control information to plant employees
- Monitor and report unusual or suspect material issues
- Communicate with coater end operators and back-end operators regarding production and quality
- Evaluate finished products for proper weight and thickness
- Operate winders and packaging machines on both production lines
- Operate banding equipment efficiently
- Print and apply pallet labels accurately
- Load and stack reworked material safely
- Track, manage, and report scrap and seconds accurately
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Monitor alarms and respond appropriately
- Assist with web break repairs and product changeover procedures
- Support training and development of team members
- Follow all standard operating procedures and processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to work safely and comply with all plant safety standards
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting, stacking, and operating machinery
- Basic understanding of product processes and equipment operation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, continuous production environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating winders, packaging machines, or similar production equipment
- Familiarity with TPM methodology, AM teams, and Focus Improvement tools
- Prior manufacturing or production line experience
- Knowledge of quality control processes and documentation
