Pay: $19.57/hr - $21.57/hr

Shifts: 2nd / 3rd

Job Description

As a Packer, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of production lines and the accurate packaging of products according to specifications and guidelines. You will engage in job rotations within your shift, which may include manual packaging, sealing products, organizing them into boxes, placing them on pallets, and operating pallet jacks to transport finished products or raw materials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks in accordance with Safety and Food Safety Standards.
  • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
  • Retrieve product specifications from the company ERP system and identify the specifications of packaging materials.
  • Program the date machine for bags and boxes according to daily production rotation.
  • Prepare the workstation at the start of the shift and maintain cleanliness and organization throughout.
  • Meet productivity goals by following the production schedule and participate in line rotation as needed.
  • Maintain communication with leaders and machine operators regarding product deficiencies.
  • Operate Auto Baggers, Ilapak, and auto baggers, and complete changeovers in the packaging area.
  • Enter production information into the TGI system and assure downtime is logged.
  • Retrieve and return packaging materials from the warehouse.
  • Practice continuous rotation within workstations and assist in the QA program.
  • Follow and comply with all SQF requirements and maintain workstations accordingly.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient use of computer and RF gun.
  • Basic math skills and calculator use.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work standing for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, reach, grasp, and work in adverse positions.
  • Ability to comply with attendance and punctuality policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Grade School level education; High School Diploma/GED is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of experience operating or working with food manufacturing machinery equipment.
  • 1-2 years of experience following work task specifications, SOPs, recipes.
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to identify errors in products and packaging materials.
  • Ability to work at required speed and adhere to established safety requirements.
  • Schedule flexibility including weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as needed.

Work Environment

Work involves continual walking and standing on hard surfaces, climbing, and descending steps. Tasks require bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Exposure to rotating and reciprocating parts, cool, hot temperatures, and noise is common. The role requires standing for long periods and driving industrial equipment such as pallet jacks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.57 - $21.57/hr.
