Job Description
We are seeking a full-time mid-level engineer to join our Ocean Engineering and Analysis Group in Seattle, WA or Providence, RI.

Responsibilities:
- Providing the primary technical effort for projects involving ship design, civil structures, marine construction support, offshore energy platforms, offshore floating wind turbines, and wave energy conversion devices. This includes climatological analysis, calculation of hydrodynamic motions and loads on floating structures, mooring system design and analysis, hydro-elastic analysis, and using finite element, potential flow, and CFD analysis methods.
- Executing wide-ranging data analysis projects employing probabilistic methods, generation and synthesis of large datasets, and optimization of complex systems. Applications include fleet planning and logistics, risk assessment, and development and validation of numerical models.
- Contributing to the continual improvement and growth of the Ocean Engineering & Analysis group. This includes developing and documenting processes and tools to increase engineering efficiency, mentoring younger associates, and building lasting client relationships.
Education and Certification:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in naval architecture, ocean engineering, or other relevant discipline. Master's Degree or PhD preferred.
- United States professional engineering licensure or ability to obtain within one year of employment is strongly preferred. Naval architecture and marine engineering license is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to project restrictions, Glosten will only consider applicants with unrestricted access to work in the United States or those eligible for TN visas.
Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of work experience in the disciplines of hydrodynamics, climatology, mooring analysis, offshore operations, ship design and/or offshore platforms.
- Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to problem solving, development of analytical approaches, and development of novel design concepts.
- Ability to evaluate, select, and apply standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Ability in global performance modeling of ships or offshore structures.
- Experience managing projects including preparing proposals, engaging in client communications, leading engineering teams, assigning tasks, providing technical review, and managing scope, schedule, and budget.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Rhino, WAMIT, OrcaFlex, Python, SWAN, SMP, and Microsoft Office software packages.
- Background in field trials, model testing, and validation of numerical models.
- General knowledge of marine vessel systems, computational methods, and design processes.
- Working knowledge of marine standards and regulatory requirements, such as USCG, ABS, DNV, and API, and ability to apply to design work.
- Some travel and fieldwork is required for this role. Project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.
