Job DescriptionJoin Our Team as a Full-Time Physician (Diagnostic Radiologist) at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS). We are looking for a dedicated professional with expertise in Neuroimaging interpretation, who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care, education, and research in the vibrant city of Tucson, Arizona!

Key Responsibilities:

The selected physician will engage in various activities within the Radiology Service, encompassing both clinical and administrative duties, including but not limited to:

    • Examinations: Utilize assessment skills to efficiently interpret radiological exams, integrating relevant clinical, laboratory, and other data. Provide follow-up as necessary.
    • Diagnosis: Accurately assess and interpret radiological information to establish diagnoses and evaluate clinical conditions, making corrections when needed.
    • Therapeutic Skills: Initiate timely interpretations and recognize changes in patient behavior, symptoms, and other relevant factors during and after radiological procedures, adjusting treatment plans as required. Acknowledge personal strengths and limitations.
    • Patient Management: Uphold patient and family confidentiality through professionalism and effective communication. Serve as a consultant, involving patients in their treatment and management plans.
    • Consultations and Specialty Skills: Provide expert consultation within the Radiology Section for the diagnosis and treatment of patients, recognizing when to refer to other specialties.
    • Record Keeping: Timely and thoroughly document physical examinations and changes in patient conditions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in compliance with hospital regulations.
    • Additional Duties: Participate in shared call and weekend coverage; educate residents and technologists; review pre-procedure labs and protocol radiology studies; engage in peer review processes; contribute to quality management activities; and participate in committees such as the multidisciplinary tumor board.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Possess an active and unrestricted medical license in any US state
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
  • Board Certified or eligible in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Extensive experience in Neuroimaging or completion of a Neuroradiology fellowship is preferred. Ability to perform Neuroradiologic procedures such as lumbar punctures and myelograms is advantageous.
  • Preferred skills include the ability to interpret examinations across multiple specialties, as well as proficiency in interpreting radiographs and conducting fluoroscopic exams.
  • Experience in teaching and training residents and fellows is essential.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, permanent position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with potential on-call responsibilities.
