Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring at least 1 year of CVICU experience and an active MD or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Hospital-based CVICU setting with 8 beds on the unit
- Adult and geriatric cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patient population, including cardiac surgery (CABG, valve, CABG/valve), CAD (STEMI, NSTEMI), AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock, peripheral bypasses, EVAR, and VATS
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in the CVICU/CCRU; ratio adjusts to 1:3 if floated to the IMC (lower acuity)
- Average daily census of 6 patients
- Provides immediate post-op care for cardiac surgery patients, including 1:1 care for the first 12 hours
- Equipment and procedures include ventilator management with respiratory therapy, Flo Trac, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and groin/radial artery management (fem stop, TR bands)
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (07:30–20:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within the specialty, including to the IMC and lower-acuity areas as needed
- No scheduled on-call shifts required
- 13-week contract
- Responsibilities include immediate post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients and management of complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic diagnoses
- Collaborates with respiratory therapy for ventilator management
- Holiday shifts are required as they fall on the schedule

- Active RN license in Maryland (MD) or a compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience required
- First-time travelers with 2+ years of extensive CVICU/open heart experience may be considered
