FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers in Avalon Park - Orlando is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team of professionals. We are also accepting applications for Physical Therapist Assistant who are New Graduates, both licensed and in the final stages of obtaining licensure.
Summary
Administers physical therapy treatments to patients, working under the direction of and as an assistant to the Physical Therapist, by performing the following duties. Special consideration will be given to clinicians with experience treating Vestibular/Balance conditions and pelvic health concerns.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Provides patient care following established protocols and patient care guidelines.
- Responsible for conduct that follows FYZICAL’s values statement and social contract.
- Responsible for a firm understanding and the implementation of our behavioral model (ARC) at all times while practicing.
- Responsible for timely documentation, including but not limited to daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, and incident reports.
- Responsible for assuring that patients are treated promptly following their scheduled appointments.
- Responsible for conveying to patients the importance of complying with established plans of care, including home exercise programs, and minimizing cancellations and no-shows of appointments. This is tracked independently with the expectation of achieving a 90% appointment-kept rate.
- Responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care, administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
- Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain.
- Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
- Observe patients during treatments and compile data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and report orally or in writing to the Physical Therapist.
- Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
- Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
- Gives orientation to new Physical Therapist Assistants and directs and gives instructions to Rehab Techs.
- Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone calls, taking messages, and filling out forms.
- Measures patient’s range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist Physical Therapist in compiling data for patient evaluations.
- Other duties as assigned
Successful Candidates Must Have:
- Accredited PTA program
- Up-to-date FL state PTA license
- New PT grads are welcome to apply with little to no experience provided a FL PTA license is active or forthcoming
- Ability to work efficiently/effectively in an autonomous environment
- Must be passionate about helping patients who have vestibular, balance, neurological, and fall risk issues
- Must be able to carry out and progress a skilled treatment plan in an outpatient setting
- Must be self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Passion for working with vestibular, balance, neurological, and fall-risk patient population
