CAD Technician
The CAD Technician is an intermediate-level role responsible for producing accurate 2D drawings, performing structured and semi-open 3D modeling, and supporting full unit drafting packages with increasing independence. This role demonstrates solid competency in CAD tools, consistent adherence to XeteX standards, and the ability to identify priorities without constant direction. The technician works with limited supervision, contributes to efficient workflow, and supports designers, leads, and project owners through high-quality drafting output.
Job Duties:
Drafting & Design Support

Produce 2D parts and complete revisions with minimal supervision

Apply XeteX drafting standards consistently; files are trusted to be correct but still team-checked

Execute 3D modeling by following work instructions, with the ability to complete some open modeling independently

Submit all files through established review processes; no files are released without review

Create and modify drawings across full unit builds, including BOMs, exports, and job packets

Draft complete documentation sets and review them with the designated unit owner

Support bottlenecks, hot parts, and project-critical drafting needs as assigned
Workflow & Communication

Prioritize tasks from the CAD Manager or CAD Lead, while also recognizing which issues need immediate attention to keep the schedule on track

Share ideas and seek clarity when appropriate

Communicate clearly and professionally with designers, leads, and other team members

Receive and relay information promptly and accurately

Maintain and uphold the XeteX Standard of File Management and Paperwork Management

Demonstrate growth by strengthening technical skills, modeling practices, and drafting accuracy

Uphold high-quality standards and contribute to improving drafting consistency

Maintain a continuous learning mindset and seek opportunities to expand capabilities
Qualifications:

Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field

Minimum of 2 years of CAD-related experience or ability to demonstrate equivalent competency

CAD-related experience or the ability to demonstrate CAD competency

AutoCAD proficiency, SolidWorks experience preferred

Detail orientated

Ability to work with a team and independently

Ability to collaborate with a team and communicate effectively
