Primary Responsibility
Your primary responsibility is to support the safety, compliance, and risk management efforts on active industrial construction and maintenance projects. This is a field-driven role. Expect to spend the majority of your time on active job sites walking projects, climbing ladders and stairs, accessing elevated work areas, observing high-risk tasks, and interacting directly with craft labor and supervision.
We self-perform structural steel, process piping, concrete and foundations, excavation and earthwork, bulk material handling, and equipment setting. This position supports crews performing complex and high-risk work daily.
Responsibilities Include
- Conduct daily and weekly jobsite safety inspections in accordance with OSHA CFR 1926 standards.
- Monitor high-risk activities,, including fall protection, steel erection, crane and rigging operations, excavation and trenching, confined space entry, hot work, and heavy equipment operations.
- Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-task planning meetings.
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and work with field leadership to implement corrective actions.
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
- Maintain safety documentatio,n including inspection reports, training records, and OSHA-related documentation.
- Support subcontractor safety compliance and participate in joint safety walks.
- Lead or assist with toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings.
- Assist with new hire orientation and site-specific safety onboarding.
- Support environmental and compliance programs as applicable.
A Successful Candidate Will Be
- Comfortable walking active construction sites daily and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Able to build credibility with experienced craft professionals and foremen.
- Firm but fair when enforcing safety standards. We are not looking for a clipboard cop. We are looking for someone who can communicate clearly, earn respect in the field, and hold the line when standards are not met.
- Detail-oriented and consistent with documentation and follow-through.
- Self-motivated and accountable.
- Calm under pressure and able to make sound decisions in fast-paced industrial environments.
- A team player who supports operations while maintaining safety standards.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of safety experience in industrial or heavy commercial construction environments.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (required or ability to obtain quickly).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites throughout Northeast Oklahoma.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and basic reporting software.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 510
- HAZWOPER 40-Hour
- First Aid / CPR / AED
- Competent Person training (Trenching, Fall Protection, Scaffolding, etc.)
