POSITION PURPOSE

The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of a company. They are responsible for managing the accounting department and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. The accounting manager will oversee the Accounting Clerk positions and provide guidance and support to them. The accounting manager will also ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.

This is a recently created position that supports APH’s continued expansion and reports to the Director of Accounting.

This role is based out of our Phoenix Office, conveniently located off the 51 Freeway (Glendale Ave. and 16th St.). Typical business hours are Monday-Friday, 8a-5p.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Reconciling (20%)

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze and reconcile accounts and transactions.
  • Assist in month-end & year-end closing duties.

Compliance and Regulation (15%)

  • Coordinate and assist with external audits and tax filings.
  • Implement and improve accounting processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls and accounting systems.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies.

Team Management (60%)

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff.
  • Assign tasks and projects to team members, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Other (5%)

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policies.
  • Perform other clerical and administrative tasks as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of accounting/finance functions.
  • 1+ year of management experience.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Detail-oriented with acute attention to detail.
  • Genuine desire to learn procedures and execute best practices.
  • Innately curious and comfortable asking questions and seeking answers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Support internal accounting systems and internal audits.
  • Technically competent with various software programs including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge in the following areas and technologies is strongly preferred:
    • Sage Intacct
    • Salesforce
    • BILL Spend & Expense (formerly Divvy)
    • ADP Workforce Now
    • Change Healthcare
    • Medical Billing
    • Healthcare Industry

EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS 

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
