Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Medical Assistant at our Woodfin, NC location. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for supporting physicians in providing patient care, preparing patients for examinations, managing medical records, and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical office. Additional duties include applying medical terminology in daily tasks and addressing patient needs in a professional manner.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Medical Assisting and Patient Care
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and familiarity with Medical Office operations
- Experience with Medical Records management
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and interact compassionately with patients
- Certification or training in Medical Assisting is preferred
- Previous experience in dermatology or related fields is a plus
Responsibilities
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit
- Enter medical history and visit information into EHR
- Escort patients to exam room
- Ask pertinent medical questions and data entry into EHR
- Prepare patient for exam by providing them with drapes and other materials to ensure they are prepared for the visit when the Physician enters the room.
- Taking photographs
- Assisting physician during medical examination and procedures
- Schedule medical procedures
- Instruct patients on proper usage of medications
- Phone in prescriptions to various pharmacies
- Change wound dressings, removing sutures, and in-office phlebotomy
- Collect, log and package lab specimens for transport
- Sterilize medical instruments
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
- Complete phone triage
- Notify all patients of pathology and lab results
- Scribe office visits
- Maintaining safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures
