Based in South Tampa, our firm delivers public-sector design projects across Florida—including schools, universities, libraries, municipal buildings, and industrial facilities. You will be mentored by licensed Professional Engineers and gain direct exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration. This position is designed for someone seeking to grow into a licensed P.E. and ultimately lead projects in the built environment.
Position Overview:As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you will support the electrical team on design documentation, modeling, calculations, and coordination. You’ll be working under the supervision of a licensed P.E., contributing to lighting and power system design, and developing proficiency in Revit and EasyPower software. Ideal candidates are sharp, proactive, and ready to grow in a fast-paced professional setting that emphasizes internal mentorship, hands-on design, and team culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Support & Technical Execution
- Assist in the design of electrical systems for public-sector and institutional buildings
- Perform calculations for lighting, power, distribution, and basic coordination
- Participate in site visits and field verifications
- Use Revit and AutoCAD to produce electrical design documentation
Collaboration & Learning
- Work side-by-side with architectural, structural, and mechanical engineers
- Respond to markups and guidance from senior P.E.s
- Attend internal coordination meetings and gain exposure to client presentations
- Learn design standards related to Division 26, 27, 28 systems (power, low-voltage, fire alarm, data, etc.)
Professional Development Path
- Participate in LEED and sustainable design efforts where applicable
- Document time and assignments accurately using firm’s project tracking system
- Receive mentorship toward obtaining your Florida P.E. license
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or eligible within 12 months
- Strong interest in building electrical systems design (not electronics or defense)
- Proficiency or coursework in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Tampa, FL
- U.S. work authorization; E-Verify eligible
- Ability to pass FDLE Level II background screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Internship or co-op experience in the A/E/C industry
- Familiarity with EasyPower or similar electrical modeling tools
- Familiarity with Division 27/28 systems (data, fire alarm, security)
