Symptom Media is a trusted provider of accredited mental health video case studies used in over 500 universities, hospitals, and medical schools. We are seeking an experienced clinical psychologist with a background in both practice and teaching. This expert will play a key role in the development of filmed case studies designed to demonstrate basic non-verbal symptoms as well as those across a spectrum mental health conditions.

Role Summary:
The selected psychologist will provide clinical supervision and guidance on set during the filming of video simulations. Working closely with a team of professional actors and filmmakers, the expert will ensure that all portrayals maintain clinical integrity and educational value. These simulations are akin to grand rounds and used for teaching, training, and continuing education purposes. Future opportunities are available, based on experience, to also create continuing education courses or move into other roles within Symptom Media’s video case study and course creation.

Responsibilities Include:

· Supervising and guiding actors across three to six filming days, each involving a different actor, in Santa Monica.

· Collaborating with the production team to bring pre-scripted non-verbal symptoms to life with accuracy and nuance.

· Providing on-set feedback to shape performances and ensure fidelity to symptom presentations.

· Reviewing final footage to approve clinical accuracy before inclusion in Symptom Media’s resource library.

· (Optional) Providing off-camera voice guidance if a simulation calls for it.

· Looking for someone with an interest in future development efforts of more complicated case studies familiar on Symptom Media’s website.

Qualifications:

· Licensed psychologist (PhD or PsyD) with clinical experience.

· Experience teaching, training, or supervising in academic or clinical settings.

· Strong understanding of mental health symptomatology, particularly non-verbal expressions.

· Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

· No prior experience working with actors required—just a willingness to collaborate and ensure educational value along with a creative spirit.
