Job Description
The Instrument and Electrical Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems that support production operations. This role ensures all work is performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and safe work practices, with a strong emphasis on health, safety, and environmental stewardship. The position supports operational reliability by maintaining system performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and providing technical expertise to maintenance and operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, test, and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment supporting production systems
- Evaluate electrical and control systems to identify deficiencies and develop repair or improvement plans
- Plan, update, and oversee assigned maintenance activities in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures
- Ensure work quality and timely completion of maintenance activities scheduled through the maintenance program
- Apply and comply with Permit to Work System (PTWS) requirements
- Support collaboration between operations, engineering, and project teams
- Review and provide input on control specifications, work practices, and system designs
- Document equipment issues, corrective actions, and verification of completed work
- Provide technical support to other technicians for troubleshooting and maintenance activities
- Participate in work prioritization to maximize efficiency and coordination with other work groups
- Develop and maintain open communication on electrical and control system issues, including safe work practices and training needs
- Generate and support Management of Change (MOC) requests related to electrical and control systems, including follow-up inspections
- Construct, monitor, and inspect new electrical and instrumentation installations and recommend upgrades as needed
- Attend and, when required, lead technical meetings to share updates on specifications, codes, procedures, and technology
- Act as a stand-in for the Instrument and Electrical Lead when required
Skills and QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Associate’s degree preferred, supplemented by relevant technical or trade school training
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation in a processing plant or production facility (onshore or offshore)
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) maintenance
- Familiarity with oil and gas facility regulations and operational requirements
- Experience with Operations Integrity Management Systems (OIMS) and related procedures
- Ability to meet all required safety, administrative, and technical training standards
- Experience with:
- Allen-Bradley PLCs
- ROC and IDEC systems
- HMI platforms including Redlion (Crimson) and PanelView
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control logic, and technical documentation
- Competent computing skills for reporting, documentation, and system interaction

Job Details:
Pay: $60/per hour
Location: Midland, TX
Schedule: M-F 40 hours/week with potential for weekly on call rotation
