Job Description

The Director of Sales is a key role responsible for driving revenue across Tenney Mountain's core business units-including food & beverage events, retail, corporate programs and school groups. This position blends sales strategy, partnership development, and community engagement to elevate Tenney Mountain's brand, visibility, and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies for events, group programs, corporate outings, school groups, and retail initiatives.
  • Lead all inbound and outbound sales efforts, ensuring timely follow-up on every lead and maximizing conversion.
  • Analyze sales performance metrics and implement data-driven strategies to grow revenue across all resort departments.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop campaigns, promotions, and materials that support sales goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain corporate partners and sponsors aligned with Tenney Mountain's brand and values.

Food & Beverage Event Sales

  • Lead the sales process for on-mountain events including corporate functions, banquets, weddings, après-ski experiences, festivals, and group dining.
  • Collaborate with F&B, Marketing, and Operations teams to develop innovative event packages and ensure seamless execution.
  • Maintain strong client communication from inquiry through post-event follow-up.

Retail Sales Oversight

  • Guide retail sales strategy, inventory planning, and product selection to keep the on-site pro-shop and online store stocked with trendy, high-demand, and seasonally relevant merchandise.
  • Analyze performance data to adjust merchandising, pricing, and product mix when necessary.
  • Create retail promotions and initiatives to boost revenue and guest engagement.

Brand Representation

  • Act as a brand ambassador for Tenney Mountain at meetings, industry events, community gatherings, trade shows, and partner engagements.
  • Consistently communicate the resort's mission, values, and vision to all stakeholders.

Budgeting & Reporting

  • Develop and manage budgets for sales initiatives, partnerships, and community programs.
  • Track expenses, revenue performance, and ROI across all managed areas.
  • Evaluate event outcomes, delivering ROI reporting and recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports and forecasts to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, Communications, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in sales, corporate partnerships, hospitality, or community relations-outdoor recreation or tourism industry experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent project management abilities.
  • Passion for outdoor recreation and commitment to community engagement.
