Job DescriptionWe are looking for a meticulous and skilled Bookkeeper to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This role will involve managing financial records, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. The position offers a mix of remote and onsite work, and candidates must be located in or near Laurel, Maryland.

Responsibilities:
• Reconcile financial statements on a monthly basis to maintain accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare detailed financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis for management review.
• Complete and file nonprofit tax forms, including Form 990 and 1099s, in a timely manner.
• Ensure financial records are consistently updated and that accounts remain balanced.
• Assist with the preparation of budgets and monitor expenditures to align with budgetary goals.
• Collaborate with team members to provide financial insights and support organizational decision-making.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect the security of all financial data.
• Stay informed about current nonprofit financial regulations and accounting standards.• Proven experience in bookkeeping, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Local residency near Laurel, Maryland, to accommodate onsite and remote work requirements.
