Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff within a school environment located in Absecon, NJ. This role involves providing effective communication access through sign language interpretation to ensure an inclusive and engaging learning experience for all individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear and accurate sign language interpretation between students, teachers, and staff during classroom instruction and school events.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to accommodate communication needs and promote equal participation.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to professional ethical standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with interpreting techniques and educational practices.
  • Travel within the assigned region to serve multiple school settings as required.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting experience in educational settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively mediate between hearing and deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals.
  • Ability to travel between assigned locations efficiently.
  • Familiarity with the educational system and terminology is a plus.
  • Relevant certification or training in sign language interpretation is preferred.

Location:Absecon, New Jersey, with travel required to nearby school sites.
