Full-Time | Exempt | Annual Salary (Commensurate with Experience)


Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist III to perform complex, high-impact procurement functions supporting university-wide initiatives. This role is ideal for a strategic procurement professional with strong negotiation skills and experience sourcing medical, laboratory, and research-related goods and services.

What You’ll Do

• Lead complex procurement and sourcing activities for products, services, and equipment

• Prepare and manage sourcing events (RFX), analyze proposals, and negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions

• Negotiate contracts through group purchasing organizations, state contracts, and private agreements

• Research and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, service, reliability, and market conditions

• Analyze supply chain trends, pricing fluctuations, and market availability

• Partner with internal stakeholders to develop specifications and scopes of work

• Review purchase requisitions, prepare purchase orders, and administer contracts

• Monitor supplier performance, shipments, and contract compliance

• Resolve delivery issues, shortages, and disputes with vendors

• Maintain procurement records, reports, and inventory documentation

• Ensure compliance with university policies and applicable laws and regulations

• Support policy development and continuous improvement initiatives

• Attend meetings, conferences, and industry events to stay current on procurement best practices


What We’re Looking For

  • Associate’s degree or 60 completed college credit hours (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 6–8 years of procurement experience, preferably in medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, or laboratory sourcing
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage complex contracts and vendor relationships
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of procurement laws, regulations, and institutional policies
  • Certified Public Procurement Professional (CPPP) or the ability to obtain within one year of hire


Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or related field

• Experience with SAP (Ariba) or other ERP systems

• Professional procurement certifications (CPM, CPPB, CPPO)

• Experience with e-commerce tools

• FEMA certifications
