Chief Estimator – Electrical Subcontractor
Location: Westchester County New York Metro (with project travel)
Compensation: Up to $200,000 base (DOE)
An established electrical subcontractor known for delivering quality electrical services on complex commercial, high-rise, retail, healthcare, institutional and multifamily projects is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead and grow their estimating function. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced electrical estimating professional who thrives on high visibility, large scopes, and strategic impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the entire estimating department for electrical scopes
- Drive strategy for bid selection, pricing philosophy, and competitive positioning
- Manage estimating teams on complex, large-scale commercial and high-rise projects
- Develop, review, and approve electrical estimates from conceptual through detailed phases
- Build and maintain strong subcontractor and vendor relationships for pricing and scope clarity
- Mentor and develop senior and junior estimators to strengthen departmental depth
- Partner with leadership on preconstruction strategy, value engineering, and proposal preparation
Qualifications
- 10+ years of electrical estimating experience in subcontracting or large GC environments
- Proven track record leading estimating teams on medium and large electrical projects
- Strong command of takeoffs, assemblies, labor & material pricing, and subcontract scopes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic pre-bid decision-making skills
- Familiarity with current electrical estimating software
