The Electronics Specialist will lead and oversee the calibration and ESD control programs within our electronic contract manufacturing operations. This role requires ownership of the full calibration lifecycle, including scheduling, monitoring, and improvement, as well as conducting regular ESD audits and ensuring all non-compliances are promptly addressed. This role is critical to the company’s success because it directly protects product quality, customer trust, and regulatory compliance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assume full ownership of the company’s calibration program, including monitoring all calibration due dates, coordinating in-house and third-party calibration services, and ensuring all equipment is properly labeled, documented, and traceable to NIST standards
- Monitor calibration status and proactively address upcoming calibration needs, recalls, or overdue items to prevent production disruptions
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for calibration processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions
- Monitor calibration status and ESD compliance, proactively addressing non-conformances, upcoming due dates, recalls, and overdue items to ensure timely corrective action and prevent production disruptions
- Conduct regular ESD audits across production and storage areas, ensuring compliance with ANSI/ESD S20.20 standards
- Maintain comprehensive calibration and ESD documentation, including certificates, audit results, and compliance records to support internal and customer audits
- Deliver training and ongoing guidance to production, engineering, and QA teams on calibration best practices and effective ESD control procedures
- Partner with external calibration providers, NIST-accredited laboratories, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely equipment calibration
- Remain current on evolving calibration, ESD, and quality standards, and implement necessary process updates to maintain compliance and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Quality Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in calibration management and ESD compliance in electronics manufacturing
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software
- Thorough understanding of ANSI/NCSL Z540, ISO 17025, NIST calibration requirements, and ANSI/ESD S20.20 standards
- Proficiency with calibration management software and ESD monitoring systems
- Demonstrated ability to proactively track, schedule, and manage calibration programs effectively
- Experienced in performing ESD audits and executing corrective actions to ensure compliance
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to maintain precise records and documentation
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement abilities, with a self-motivated, proactive approach
- Skilled in communication and training, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong work habits, including punctuality, reliability, and consistent attendance
- Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Quality, Calibration, or ESD (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician, ESD Program Manager
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 quality management systems
- Experience with electronic contract manufacturing, including PCB assembly, SMT processes, or test engineering
