We are thrilled to invite a dynamic team player to join us as a Lead Machining Supervisor at our bustling Aftermarket Pump Repair Shop situated in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. This role commands the reigns of the 2nd shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM), ensuring optimal resource and equipment usage whilst achieving or surpassing established targets. Your expertise will ensure machinery operations and supporting functions run safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience overseeing machinists, mechanics, and shop staff in an industrial aftermarket setting.
  • Foster a team-centric environment among shop employees.
  • Organize shop tasks efficiently, fulfilling customer requirements for individual pump tasks and producing detailed status reports.
  • Control manufacturing processes and liaise with assembly, inspection, and welding personnel to achieve goals.
  • Maintain constant communication with the Shop Manager and coordinate task transitions between shifts.
  • Engage engineers regarding shop floor challenges.
  • Deliver projects by customer deadlines and manage materials effectively to ensure job readiness.
  • Comprehend and explain comprehensive blueprints to shop staff.
  • Oversee emergency weekend assignments when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to safety guidelines established by the company and train staff accordingly.
  • Handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with skill.
  • Past manual machining experience with large parts on boring machines is beneficial.
  • Lead by example while resolving repair issues.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal prowess.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Complete various additional tasks as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in an equipment repair setting, ideally involving pumps or power generation.
  • Fundamental skill set in manual machining and welding.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong mathematical and blueprint interpretation capabilities.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity required.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office applications recommended.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • An Associate degree or higher is preferable.
  • A mix of education and experience will also be considered.
