Join Westinghouse and help deliver safe, clean, and reliable nuclear energy. As a Senior Nuclear LOCA Safety Analyst (BWR), you’ll apply rigorous thermal-hydraulics and licensing expertise to protect plant safety and support our customers worldwide.

A day in this role

Whether you’re working remotely from within the U.S. or collaborating on site in our Cranberry Township, PA office, you’ll partner closely with the Manager, BWR Safety & Analysis. Your day may begin by reviewing plant drawings and specifications, building and refining detailed models, and running proprietary system codes to simulate Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCA) for boiling water reactors. You’ll interpret two-phase flow and heat transfer behaviors, document results in clear technical reports, and serve as the go-to expert for plant-specific LOCA questions from both internal stakeholders and external customers. When plants consider modifications or operating changes, you’ll evaluate impacts on design basis analyses and ensure alignment with the plant’s licensing basis.

Your core work

  • Execute design basis safety analyses for BWRs with a focus on LOCA scenarios
  • Translate plant drawings/specifications into robust models and analytical inputs
  • Run proprietary system codes and perform high-fidelity safety calculations
  • Critically interpret results and produce formal technical documentation
  • Act as the point of contact for plant-specific LOCA inquiries (internal and external)
  • Maintain cognizance of plant licensing bases and regulatory commitments
  • Assess and apply models/correlations for two‑phase flow and heat transfer prediction
  • Analyze the effects of plant modifications and operating changes on design analyses

Qualifications

  • BS in Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 4+ years of nuclear industry experience
  • 4+ years performing safety analysis

You should be proficient in: Engineering Degree

Work location

Remote within the U.S. or hybrid in Cranberry Township, PA.

Compensation

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
