We are looking for a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to take charge of and enhance our Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division at a leading children's hospital affiliated with a prominent university. This role entails providing exceptional emergency care to young patients, managing research and educational initiatives, and working alongside multidisciplinary teams in a high-capacity Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. The selected candidate will also hold a faculty position, playing a vital role in training the next generation of healthcare professionals within a cutting-edge clinical setting.
The Department of Pediatrics at our affiliated medical school and children's hospital is in search of a full-time BC/BE Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to lead and develop our division. As the Division Chief, you will provide advanced clinical care to children visiting our Pediatric Emergency Department. This position also involves expanding and innovating the division's research and educational programs. The ideal candidate will have the chance to shape the future of an exceptional emergency medicine program within a nationally recognized institution that is continuously growing. Additionally, the division supports an active fellowship training program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert emergency medical services to pediatric patients in an ACS-verified Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, treating over 45,000 children each year.
- Provide care in a bustling urban emergency department that caters to a diverse population from the inner city, metropolitan area, and a 250-mile referral radius across Missouri and Illinois.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including pediatric trauma surgeons, intensivists, surgical subspecialists, radiologists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists.
- Engage in practice and quality improvement initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Act as a faculty member at the medical school, contributing to the education of future healthcare providers, including fellows, residents, medical students, and allied health students.
- Ensure adherence to departmental, hospital, and institutional policies and procedural standards.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will be appointed at the Associate or Professor of Pediatrics level, depending on their experience and qualifications. Applicants must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree, be board-certified, and eligible for medical licensure in Missouri. Candidates should have completed an ACGME-accredited three-year fellowship program. Visa applicants are encouraged to apply.

- The Emergency Department features a modern 35-bed facility with four resuscitation/trauma rooms, located within a 195-bed freestanding children's hospital, handling over 40,000 visits annually.
- Pediatric-trained nursing staff certified in PALS are dedicated to providing the highest level of care for pediatric patients.
- Supported by a dedicated Child Life team and pastoral care representatives to enhance the hospital experience for children and their families.
