Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to support the development and optimization of advanced manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in MEMS assembly, precision machining, and electronics manufacturing. This role involves working closely with engineering and production teams to improve product performance, enhance process efficiency, and ensure high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development to improve manufacturing techniques and optimize production processes.
- Assemble and calibrate Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) to meet stringent specifications.
- Program and operate wire bonders, CNC machines, and dicing saws for high-precision component fabrication.
- Apply hermetic sealing techniques to enhance the reliability of opto-electronic components.
- Perform microscope-based assembly, fine-pitch soldering, and PCB integration in a high-mix environment.
- Conduct electrical testing using LCR meters, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Analyze test data and generate reports to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and process documentation.
- Interpret schematics and revise technical work instructions for clarity and accuracy.
- Support Installation and Operational Qualifications (IQ/OQ) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Design and 3D-print custom fixtures to streamline assembly and reduce cycle times.
- Recommend and assist in the procurement of new machinery to enhance production capabilities.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in operating SMT machines, wire bonders, and dicing saws.
- Skilled in interpreting electrical schematics and conducting diagnostic testing.
- Ability to design and fabricate custom fixtures using 3D printing.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience within the medical device industry.
- Strong understanding of MEMS assembly, hermetic sealing, and PCB integration.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Ypsilanti, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $33.00/hr.
