Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Project Manager to plan, execute, and deliver commercial and industrial plumbing projects from pre-construction through closeout. The role requires strong project management skills, deep plumbing and construction knowledge, and the ability to lead teams, control budgets and schedules, ensure code compliance, and maintain excellent client relationships while delivering high-quality, safe outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full project lifecycle for commercial and industrial plumbing jobs, including pre-construction planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, execution, and closeout.
- Develop and manage project schedules, track milestones, and coordinate trades and subcontractors to ensure timely completion.
- Prepare and review estimates, budgets, progress forecasts, and change order documentation; manage cost control and margin protection.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable plumbing codes, building regulations, contract documents, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, general contractors, and internal teams to clarify scope, resolve issues, and maintain positive relationships.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor workmanship, safety compliance, and progress; enforce safety policies and report incidents promptly.
- Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, daily logs, inspection reports, and closeout documentation.
- Mentor and supervise site superintendents, foremen, and project staff; lead project meetings and communicate expectations.
- Use project management and estimating software to track project performance and produce timely reports for stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying risks, proposing mitigation strategies, and implementing lessons learned across projects.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience in commercial and/or industrial plumbing and construction projects.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred; valid plumbing certifications or relevant trade credentials.
- Proven experience with project management practices, cost control, scheduling, and change order management; PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Strong technical knowledge of plumbing systems, piping, fixtures, HVAC interfacing, and relevant codes (e.g., IPC and local regulations).
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Proficiency with project management and construction software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam) and MS Office suite.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills with a demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to safety with OSHA 10/30 or equivalent training preferred and a track record of enforcing safe work practices.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites; ability to perform periodic site inspections in construction environments.
