Job Description\n

American Traveler seeks an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level 1 Trauma teaching center with required WA or compact RN license and BLS certification.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position based in a 25-bed Level 1 Trauma Center operating room
  • Handles primarily Ortho, Spine, and Neuro surgical cases with 60-70 cases managed per day
  • No cardiac or transplant cases are performed in this OR
  • Day and night rotating shifts available, with 8, 10, and 12-hour shift options including weekends; schedule flexibility required to meet unit needs
  • On-call is not required
  • Epic charting system used; Epic experience preferred but not required
  • Medication management through Pyxis system
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Travelers are expected to be flexible in shift scheduling and RTO; block scheduling is not available
  • Weekend shifts are required and travelers are highly preferred to work Christmas
  • Holiday RTO is restricted; travelers may request one major holiday off and up to three additional days outside of specified blackout dates
  • No floating outside the operating room but flexible within the OR is expected to meet unit needs
  • Training provided during orientation; RTO not permitted during orientation week
  • Facility provides multiple parking options with a fee; shuttle service available for offsite parking during weekdays only
  • Magnet-recognized, academic teaching, and trauma hospital with a diverse surgical team structure
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active WA or compact RN license required before start; pending licenses are not accepted
  • If using compact license, must complete WA licensure requirements, including 6-hour suicide prevention training and demographic data submission via WA BON
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of perioperative RN experience in a Level 1 Trauma center required
  • Strong circulating skills required; experience in Ortho, Spine, and Neuro preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
  • Proof of licensure and certifications, as well as two professional references required for consideration
  • Prior staff must be separated from the facility for at least 18 months before returning as a traveler
