Position SummaryAs a Mohs Technician, you’ll work closely with our Mohs Surgeon to ensure high-quality, timely preparation of pathology specimens. This position requires technical skill, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow established protocols in a regulated laboratory setting.PHI Access and Disclosure

All providers and staff must preserve the integrity and confidentiality of protected health information (PHI). Team members may access patient charts, demographic information, and when necessary financial information in order to provide quality care. A confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to receiving access.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare grossing areas and specimens for the Mohs Surgeon
  • Embed, cut, stain, and prepare frozen sections for histologic examination
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment including cryostats and stainers
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and regulatory compliance of the lab space
  • Record, log, and enter patient and specimen information into electronic systems
  • Manage and maintain chemicals, reagents, and supply levels
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and follow all PHI and HIPAA guidelines
  • Assist with documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with team members to support clinic flow and surgical efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and lab operations

Job Qualifications

  • Associate of Science degree in a science-related field (required)
  • Previous laboratory or histology experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using computer applications such as spreadsheets, email, and databases
  • Physical ability to lift 20–40 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
  • Professional appearance and demeanor; scrubs and closed-toe shoes required
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and high-quality care
  • Open to travel

  • Knowledge of clinical policies, procedures, and office management practices.
  • Knowledge of fiscal and operational management.
  • Strong planning, organization, delegation, and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Ability to interpret and apply clinic policies and procedures.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement solutions.
  • Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and practice management software.


Physical Requirements

  • Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient’s manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Multiple demands and deadlines can trigger stress.
