Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position seeks educators specialized in teaching students who are visually impaired, serving grades K-12 in a school setting located in Camp Lejeune, NC. The role is a contract position for the full school year.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering specialized curriculum tailored to the needs of visually impaired students
- Conducting assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and adapt instruction accordingly
- Collaborating with general education teachers, therapists, and families to support student success
- Utilizing assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance learning experiences
- Providing mobility and orientation training as needed to promote independence
Desired qualifications include:
- Certification in Visual Impairment or relevant credentialing for teaching students with visual impairments
- Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and accommodations for visually impaired learners
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Patience, creativity, and dedication to student development
