Role Overview:
The Shipping Supervisor oversees and supervises warehouse employees and/or drivers to make sure all items are prepared and shipped on time while complying with company policy. Works closely with shipping personnel, including Shipping and Operations Managers. Duties may vary to include some or all of the following job responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Monitor and oversee shipping activities to ensure accuracy in customer delivery or Customer Pick-Up (CPU).
- Read shipping notices, orders, and other documents so as to determine priorities and methods that are needed to meet schedules.
- Coordinates, organizes, and loads outgoing shipments as needed in order to keep to daily schedule.
- Communicates continuously with all individuals in the department to monitor shipment status, and ensure priorities are known and carried out to satisfy Customer demands.
- Engages with customers and drivers with a positive attitude and exceptional customer service.
- Play a mediator’s role between shipping units and vendors in the case of discrepancies in shipments and reconcile with the appropriate person.
- Identify opportunities for enhancement and suggest ways of improvement to top management of the organization.
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide performance feedback to Shipping or CPU employees to ensure all company standards are met.
- Operates a forklift or pallet jack to move and load shipments as needed.
- Assists in special and scheduled physical inventories.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Education/Experience and Required Skills:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Some college preferred.
- Forklift experience required.
- 3-4 years experience in a warehouse shipping or receiving environment.
- Prior supervisor experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Software (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe.
- Knowledge working with Syspro or similar ERP software strongly preferred.
- Ability to lead a team and communicate effectively.
- Excellent customer service and time management skills.
- Well organized, with the ability to track multiple activities involving numerous details.
- Ability to work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50-75 pounds.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the entire body. This will include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, carrying, bending, twisting, and stooping.
- Regularly exposed to fumes, allergens, or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
- May occasionally be exposed to mild chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to electric powered equipment, conveyor belt and compressed air.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
