Located in Carbon County, PA, this contract position offers an opportunity to support students in an enhanced emotional support K-12 school setting. The role involves providing direct, focused assistance to students to help them respond effectively to daily challenges and develop social-emotional skills. The assignment follows the school calendar with an anticipated end date of June 12, 2026, requiring 32.5 to 35 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 or small group support to students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges
- Implement and reinforce behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as designed by specialists or special education teams
- Assist with managing emotions, behavior regulation, conflict resolution, and social interactions
- Collect behavioral data and track intervention outcomes under the direction of teachers or behavior teams
- Support students during transitions, sensory breaks, and apply de-escalation techniques when needed
- Maintain a structured, supportive environment and adhere to crisis intervention protocols
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and related service staff to promote a cohesive support system
- Aid students with academic participation and personal care needs such as toileting and hygiene
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Juvenile Justice, Social Behavior, or related field preferred; Associates degree with 13 years of relevant experience also considered
- Proven experience in emotional support, therapeutic, or behavior-based educational settings
- Strong knowledge of emotional and behavioral disorders, including anxiety, oppositional behaviors, and trauma-related challenges
- Skilled in positive behavior reinforcement, de-escalation strategies, and building therapeutic relationships
- Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis situations and maintain appropriate boundaries
- Basic computer skills for data entry and communication
- Must provide one completed emotional support role supervisor reference check with application
