Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a lasting impact by providing essential support to students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. This contract position offers the opportunity to serve as an itinerant educator across Carbon and Lehigh counties, working with a diverse range of students and educational environments.

You’ll be a crucial part of a dynamic team, covering staff absences and stepping into various classrooms as needed. When not covering for another teacher, you’ll be assigned to one of the intermediate unit’s classrooms for the day. Extended coverage may also be required for leaves or vacations. This role promises a flexible and engaging workday, requiring adaptability and a commitment to student success.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Pennsylvania teaching license.
  • Current PA PDE Certification (must hold an Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12 and/or Instructional I or II Certificate in an appropriate Special Education subject area).
  • Prior experience serving students in special education programs.
  • Familiarity with IEP development, participation, and implementation.
  • Must be available for 100% in-person work.
  • Proof of licensure and PDE certification required upon application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and support to students with special needs as an itinerant teacher in Carbon or Lehigh County.
  • Follow student IEPs and collaborate with other educators and staff.
  • Flexibly cover a range of classrooms and grade levels.
  • Ensure continuity of educational service during staff absences or leaves.

Assignments follow the traditional school calendar, with a 35-hour work week beginning in August 2026 and ending in June 2027.
