Job Summary

The Nurse Educator plays a pivotal role in the education and professional development of nursing staff within the healthcare organization. This position involves designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs to ensure that nursing staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to provide high-quality patient care. The Nurse Educator collaborates with nursing leadership, clinical experts, and interdisciplinary teams to identify learning needs, develop curricula, and facilitate ongoing education and training initiatives.

Additionally, the Nurse Educator serves as a resource person for nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to enhance clinical practice and promote professional growth. This position requires strong clinical expertise, teaching skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning and evidence-based practice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned according to qualification of staff and development of programs.

TASK EXPECTATIONS

  • Organizes, coordinates, schedules and provides staff education.
  • Maintaining accurate records of educational activities and evaluations, documenting staff competency assessments, and preparing reports for regulatory agencies as required.
  • Facilitating ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities for nursing staff to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Organizing and leading in-service training sessions, workshops, and seminars on topics such as infection control, patient safety, medication administration, and evidence-based practice.
  • Serving as a resource person for nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and clarification on clinical procedures, protocols, and best practices.
  • Assessing the clinical competency of nursing staff through observation, skills assessments, and evaluations to ensure compliance with standards of practice.
  • Designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and curricula for nursing staff based on identified needs, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop patient education materials and programs.
  • Assist as a staff or charge RN as needed
  • If supervising other employees, maintain current knowledge of KVC’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS), and;
  • Interview, hire, train employees; assign and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.

  • Maintain current knowledge of and follow all KVC policies and procedures.
  • Travel may be necessary to other Camber sites.
  • Assist with nursing education and competency initiatives as needed

Education: ADN from an accredited school of nursing. BSN or Master’s in Nursing Education preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Active and unencumbered RN license in Missouri.

Qualifications:

Experience: Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience/Skills: Behavioral health nursing experience preferred.
