Job Title: Quality Control Microbiologist

Department: Quality Control
Reports To: QC Laboratory Supervisor/Manager
Location: Gulfport, MS
Employment Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $28-$30/hour, DOE

Position Summary

The Quality Control Microbiologist plays a key role in supporting laboratory operations by performing microbiological testing on products, raw materials, and the manufacturing environment. This position ensures compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements through precise testing, thorough documentation, and adherence to established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples, reagents, and culture media for microbiological testing
  • Perform microbiological analyses using aseptic techniques, plating methods, gram staining, and environmental monitoring
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Accurately document, analyze, and report test results in accordance with SOPs and regulatory standards
  • Support laboratory investigations, including deviations and out-of-specification results
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and R&D as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Working knowledge of microbiological laboratory techniques and practices
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SOPs, and quality control systems
  • Understanding of quality processes including deviations, CAPAs, and change control
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented laboratory environment
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office or similar)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field, or equivalent laboratory experience
  • 3–5 years of relevant microbiology laboratory experience
  • Experience with AET (Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing) required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during the workday
