Looking for a certified preschool teacher for a state funded PreK for 3 and 4 year olds. Responsible for implementing a program of activities (using the Tools of the Mind curriculum) that promotes the social-emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child enrolled in a group in accordance with NJ Preschool Teaching & Learning Standards; leading to mastery of Kindergarten Readiness Skills.
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, 10-Month
REPORTS TO: Director, Master Teacher
COORDINATES WITH: Director, Teacher Assistant
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must demonstrate experience and interest in working with young children, parents, and volunteers.
- Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of appropriate practices in early childhood development including working with parents.
- Must demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
- Must have effective and strong communication skills (orally and written).
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and maintain a well-organized, safe, clean, learning environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children and assure the well being and safety of the children in his/her care.
- Observe and document each child’s learning and development; maintain current (no less than weekly) documentation in electronic student portfolio.
- Fully implement the Tools of the Mind curriculum and Preschool Program standards in accordance with the policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines set forth, including developmentally appropriate practices for a high-quality preschool program.
- Develop Teacher Assistant lesson plans.
- Provide guidance to all volunteers and unpaid interns.
- Implement Positive Behavior Support strategies and behavior plans.
- Ensure daily attendance records are maintained and accurately reported to office at the end of the month.
- Complete quarterly assessment checkpoints and conduct family conferences to discuss children’s developmental progress, needs and interests.
- Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff training as required.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES
- Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
- Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, and speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Must be fully met in order to qualify for position)
- Bachelors in Early Childhood Education or related field
- This is a State Funded Pre-K: must have license to teach in the State of NJ with a Preschool through Third Grade or Certificate of Eligibility/Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing
- Proficient computer skills, including data base systems, and access to email and internet.
- Ability to speak, read, write, comprehend, process, interpret follow and carry out instructions spoken in the English language and written in a variety of documents and reference relevant to the job.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $57,000 - $60,000 per year
Experience:
- Lead Teaching in State-Funded Preschool Program: (Preferred)
