Job Summary: The Mechanical Draftsman/Part Number Creator is responsible for developing detailed manufacturing drawings, maintaining engineering documentation, creating part numbers, and supporting product standardization for helical pile systems and foundation products. This person will work closely with engineering design, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing teams to ensure accurate drawings, BOMs, and ERP data for shafts, helices, couplers, brackets, and welded assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Create and revise 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models, including dimensions and tolerances, material grades, weld symbols, hole locations, bolt patterns, exploded views, fabrication notes, and inspection criteria.
✅ Revise or update drawings when necessary.
✅ Keep the revision control list up to date.
✅ Collaborate with the engineering team and manufacturing team to ensure designs are accurate and buildable.
✅ Work in conjunction with the engineering team to create devices and standards for quality assurance.
✅ Provide files for certain workstations of production.
✅ Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASTM, AWS, ISO) and internal quality guidelines. Create and maintain part numbering systems for components, sub-components, assembly drawings, and purchase parts (BOM). Create and maintain multi-level BOMs and routings.
What We’re Looking For:
✔️ Associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
✔️ 3-5 years of drafting experience related to manufacturing in steel fabrication (helical pile industry experience is a plus).
✔️ Strong understanding of engineering drawings, welding symbols, and manufacturing specifications.
✔️ Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
✔️ Experience with ERP systems and drawing management is a plus.
